How she’s scaling impact

KAHINDO’s mission is to have a social impact by empowering women, closing the gender gap, paying fair living wages and creating sustainable jobs in Africa, which are 3 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. They support ethical production and fair trade practices by partnering up with sewing co-ops and artisans in Africa.

A graduate of the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago, Mateene was selected to take part in Macy’s Chicago Fashion Incubator program and was also one of the contestants in season 12 of Project Runway.

KAHINDO has been featured in major publications such as Italian Vogue, Glamour South Africa, New York Times, Elle, Marie Claire, Essence, British Vogue, British Harper’s Bazaar, Tatler and Huffington Post.
